If you want a cabin — for short-term rental, a getaway, or full-time living — you have two real paths: buy a factory-built park model, or build a stick-built cabin on site. Both end in a cabin, but the cost, the timeline, and how you finance and place it are very different. Here's a straight comparison.

Cost

This is the biggest gap. Our park models start at $38,999 factory-direct and fully finished — no dealership and no dealer markup. A comparable stick-built cabin typically costs several times that once you add site-built construction, contractor margins, and the change orders that come with a custom build. Because a park model is built on a production line, you get finished quality without paying for a one-off project.

Time

A park model is built in about 10–12 weeks and arrives fully finished, so you're using it within weeks of delivery. A stick-built cabin is many months of permitting, weather delays, and trades scheduling — often a year or more before it's livable. For a rental, that difference is months of income you either collect or wait on.

Financing

Because our cabins are ANSI 119.5 certified, they qualify for third-party park-model RV financing — a category most builders can't offer — instead of a construction loan or mortgage. Mobility

A park model sits on a heavy steel frame with removable axles the buyer keeps, so the home stays easy to move again down the road. A stick-built cabin is permanent. If there's any chance you'll relocate the cabin or resell it off the lot, that flexibility matters.

When building makes more sense

To be fair: if you need much more than about 400 square feet of living space, a permanent poured foundation, or a fully custom architectural footprint, a stick-built cabin may be the better fit. For most getaway and rental cabins, though, a park model delivers the same feel and finish for a fraction of the time and money — which is why so many of our buyers choose one over building.
